Straighten Your Smile With Invisalign

Straighten Your Smile With Invisalign

Invisalign is a clear alternative to metal braces for adults and teens. It’s a series of custom-molded aligners that gradually shift teeth into alignment over time. The aligners are removable, allowing patients to eat the foods they love and clean their teeth normally. They are also nearly invisible. With Invisalign treatment, you get the beautiful results you crave without bulky hardware or the look of traditional braces.

Invisalign Treatment Process

  • After your initial consultation, your dentist will take x-rays and impressions of your teeth. A 3D treatment plan will be created from the impressions.
  • Your dentist will order your custom aligners from Align Technology or a similar provider. The aligners will be sent to the dentist’s office about two weeks later.
  • You’ll wear each set of clear aligners for about two weeks at a time before switching to the next set in the series. You will continue this process until you’ve worn all of the aligners in your series.
  • You should check in with your dentist every four weeks to ensure treatment is progressing as planned.
  • Once treatment is completed, you will begin wearing retainers every night to protect your teeth and keep them in their new position.
  • Although the length of treatment will vary from person to person, the average case takes about a year for adults. Teenagers’ cases may take longer.

Is Invisalign Right For You?

Your smile says a lot about you, and if you’re unhappy with how your teeth look, it can cause you to feel embarrassed or insecure every time you open your mouth to speak or eat. But thanks to advancements in cosmetic dentistry, there are now several ways to improve the appearance of your smile without undergoing orthodontic treatment. While braces can create significant discomfort, particularly at the beginning of treatment, the aligners are made of smooth plastic with no sharp edges to cause pain. You may experience some soreness as you begin using a new aligner tray, but it should fade quickly as you become accustomed to wearing it.

One option that many patients prefer is Invisalign because it involves wearing clear aligners that are practically invisible to others. While you may be able to get the results you want with Invisalign, it may not be the best option for everyone. The dentist can best help determine if Invisalign is the best option for your dental condition.
